**Disclaimer: I started this post a few weeks ago, but didn't get to finish it. A little has changed since then, but not much. The last few sentences of this post reflect his current moving abilities**
Compared to these other baby boys, who are Eli's age, Eli looks like a tub. He doesn't move much.
See Aaron and Eli here. Aaron is 5 days younger than Eli, and the son of our good friends the Hornibrooks.
James is about a month younger than Eli and the son of our friends the Goodwins. He is already working on the army crawl/scoot.
To be fair, Eli has started rolling over a lot more often, and thus getting stuck on his belly somewhere other than where we put him. He still hates tummy time, but while on his tummy he will rotate himself in a circle and scootch himself backwards. Forward movement is non-existent though. And he won't roll from his tummy to his back. He just gets mad, after a while, that he is on his tummy at all. Granted, I am very grateful that my life is still fairly easy, because I know that once he starts to crawl/move forward, he will just go and thus the life of "chasing Eli" will commence. So I am enjoying this time when he is still fairly stationary. I just find it funny to compare the mobility of Aaron and James to Eli's non-movement.
Oh, and he does LOVE being able to sit on his own. He is quite content to sit and play with toys by himself for a while.

That's how Naomi was too. He'll catch up. don't worry!
I wouldn't consider Eli "behind" at all... his interests simply lie elsewhere. He doesn't have any "catching up" to do.
As for his size... You and David are both tall, and though Eric is tall, I have a slightly more unfortunate stature... And when muscles are still developing, I would imagine it would be harder to more a bigger mass... Aaron was simply born with a small head.
I'm sure being told you're lucky that you don't have to chase Eli doesn't help, but, well, you are. :} If I leave the bathroom door open Aaron tries to throw himself in the tub or put things in the toilet... *sigh*
I just finished Aaron proofing Eric's drum set - it is ugly, but at least it is softer... AND Aaron has started to show interest in the bookshelves as well as the kitchen chairs which are on wheels. I may have to remove the wheels... I know he likes them because he uses the chairs to try to walk but he falls on his poor face too often. All I can say is, I'm glad we don't have stairs!
He'll get it! People always told me I should be really grateful for a child who didn't move much (when Hailey didn't move much) but I felt like once she could crawl and get whatever it was she wanted, we were both liberated. Until that point, she would find what she wanted and scream until I figured it out. There are pros and cons of stationary AND mobile children! Now she runs of course...faster than I can catch her sometimes. Still, it's fun.
I feel ya! Eli actually looked quite mobile, on Sunday, compared to Paul. At least Eli's got the swiveling technique down. Paul can swivel a bit and he does things that make it look like he's about to crawl, but it just hasn't happened yet. You and I will just have to enjoy our stationary babies for now!
