1st Day of Nursery!!

Eli turned 18 months last week. Don't know how that happened.. I must have blinked! But, 18 months means that he gets to go into Nursery at Church. Sunday was his first full day. We had been prepping him for nursery by going in with him the past month during the first hour. This got him used to being in the room and the craziness of all the other toddlers. Well Sunday went fabulous! He walked in to Nursery, acting like he owned the place, and I got to enjoy all of the last 2 hours of church! David and I actually sat together in Sunday School... I can't remember the last time that happened. I did feel weird at first, not wandering the halls with Eli, but I got over it.

During Relief Society, I kept checking the door to see if they were going to bring me a crying Eli. And it didn't happen! He stayed the whole 2 hours--first try!

Though I found out a little later that it wasn't quite that smooth. David picked Eli up from Nursery. The first thing that David saw was Eli standing in the middle of the room, showing a big pouty face. When Eli saw David, the pout got bigger and then Eli walked straight over to his Daddy and hugged him legs until David picked up him. (:( So sad!) It turned out that Eli was good until about the last 20 minutes of Nursery. At that point he realized that Mommy and Daddy weren't around. So he got that big pouty face, and refused to do anything else. He didn't cry, but he stood in one place and pouted. He would not be distracted by the songs or lesson or anyone trying to make him happy. He just stubbornly stood there, pouting. And then he wouldn't let go of David once David got him.

Well, at least he will start to learn we will always come back for him. I just find it so cute, and sad, that he just pouted!!

Told you! And sounds like your little Prince of Pout must be related to our King of Pout over here... like they're cousins or something. ;) Hopefully next week he'll just remember that he liked it instead of remember that he was upset at you for ditching him there. And hey... quiet time in church must mean its time for another baby, right? ;)

Glad it went mostly well! Sounds like you two were very smart about it with the month of prep. I can imagine Eli standing there and pouting. What a sad - yet adorable - site! Miss you guys!
