1) Scrapbooking London: Alright, I'll be honest, I'm struggling with this one. Between the holidays, moving, and taking care of Eli, I slipped in this goal a while ago, and have struggled to get going again. Scrapbooking is really time consuming and messy. Not that I don't enjoy it. But getting the stuff out and putting it all away every time I want to play is rather daunting. I have done a layout or 2 since we moved, but I need to be better about it. And it be honest, that being better probably will have to wait a few more weeks. It pretty certain now that we will be the managers in our complex. When that happens we will have 3 bedrooms, and in the 3rd bedroom I will set up a crafting table for myself. I think that will help me scrapbook AND sew.
2) Housekeeping: I know I have already done a follow up post about this, but it isn't going as well as it was. I started working from home, part-time, for Market Strategies (MSI). I work while Eli sleeps. This was the time I would clean as well. So my cleaning time has been cut. However, I will pick the schedule back up more consistently in a few weeks when MSI doesn't need my help anymore.
On a side note, it has been nice working for MSI again. It has allowed me to get back in touch with my former co-workers, I get to feel productive and helpful to the team, and I can keep up on my skills. Plus the income is good too. :)
3) Half marathon!: This goal is actually going REALLY well. As I said before, I'm not, nor have I ever been or considered myself to be, a runner. So Running isn't necessarily easy for me. It took a few weeks to build up some stamina and strength. But it is starting to pay off, and I love seeing the progress I am making. We are finally to a point in our training where we can actually follow a pre-made training schedule (which is nice because it tells me how much to do and which days). On Saturday we ran 4 miles! And as long as we add a mile every Saturday (so 5 miles this week), we'll be on track for the August 4th half! Here are just a few things I have learned as I have been training.
- Running is just as much about mental stamina as it is about physical stamina. The ability to mentally tell yourself to keep putting one foot in front of the other, when your legs are tired, takes some time to develop. I finally feel like I'm gaining some mental stamina, which is huge!
- For some reason, running has taken away my sweet tooth. Not all of it, mind you. But a good portion of it. Weird!
- For the first time that I can remember in our married life, I weigh as much (and sometimes less!) than David! Bah! Never thought that would happen. :) He is tall and lean (which I LOVE!) but he doesn't gain weight, ever. That frustrates him, which I feel sorry for, but it makes me smile that for the first time I don't weigh more than him! Thank you nursing and running!
- Here is a gloating moment: I have to go buy new jeans. The ones I have been wearing were kinda big to start with, but now they are basically falling off me...

I know this is random and I'm practically spamming your blog with comments, but one thing that has helped me with my sewing that may help you with your scrap-booking - have a place designated for it so you don't have to put it away every time. Eric and I just rearranged our house and now my sewing machine is permanently out which makes the task much less daunting. I have my own table so my stuff isn't in "Eric's way" and so if I choose to leave out more than just the sewing machine, it is ok. I even have more space for crafts in general with our new layout.
As for the cleaning, don't sweat it - you don't have to always have your toilets scrubbed... and bins were created for busy mommies... From what I can see when I come over, everything looks great (and even if you're doing a scramble clean right before we show up - the fact that you are *able* to do a scramble clean means that things weren't that messy in the first place... just saying)
Thanks for doing the blog posts - we don't talk nearly often enough and I love seeing your updates!
I love reading about your goal progress. I'm totally excited about your success in your running goal! I was just wondering how that was going for you guys and I'm glad to hear you're sticking with it. Nursing has done the opposite for me; I've been retaining 15 lbs from pregnancy and I'm hopeful it will come off when I ween Paul. We'll see...
