Bass Black Butte Bash

Every year my in-laws host a family vacation for their children and their families. This year it was at Black Butte in Central Oregon. We had a blast together! We headed over on Thursday and stayed until Sunday.

Thursday was fairly relaxed. When we all arrived we had lunch, went to the head of the Matolius River (it comes straight out of ground at this point--awesome!) and had a pretty relaxing evening. No pictures of this day. My sis-in-law Shonda took some pictures by the River which I hope to get copies of later.

Friday we all decided to hike up to the top of Black Butte. It was only about a 4 mile round trip, so the initial thought was that it should take like 1.5 hours round trip. (I should know better, having climbed mountains before). Let's just say it was over an hour one way, plus hanging out at the top to enjoy the view. Elevation gain, heat, children, etc made the trip a lot longer. But we enjoyed it. I'm really glad we decided to go. Here is a video and some pictures.

The rest of the day... was spent at the pool. A much needed swim.

Saturday was less crazy.. we played tennis and swam and just enjoyed the time together. I have some pictures of tennis, but my favorite are what the babies did while everyone played. Here are Cameron Barlow and Eli Bass (favorite cousins, by the way, 9 months apart) and their respective activities during tennis.

And Sunday was clean up and head home day. It was a wonderful, and much needed trip!
