"Well we can't all come and go by Bubble!"

Which is why last weekend found David and I making the 8-ish hour trip to Boise, by car. We had tickets to see WICKED!!! I love Wicked!!!

Friday afternoon David played Hookey from class. So I picked him up and we headed out to Idaho! This was our first trip as a married couple, other than our honeymoon, that didn't involve staying at a family members' house--a real get away. And we enjoyed it thoroughly. We arrived just before 8 pm, hoping to hop into the hotel pool, only to find it was down for maintenance (of course!) Oh well. The drive was tiring so we relaxed.

Saturday, before the show, we went and explored the Boise Temple grounds. I didn't realize how pretty the Boise temple actually is. I've only really seen is from the freeway, which is definitely not the best view of it. Here are just a few pictures from around the temple.

(Yes, my husband is a goober. :))

 (I loved the window detail)

(By the way, we saw at least 3 brides while we were there)

Then we went to Boise State University campus for the show. We had some time to wander the campus (though it was graduation day). It is a small campus, but pretty. However, for a graduation day it was fairly empty. Course I'm used to the chaos that is BYU graduation weekend so my judgement is a little skewed.

The show was awesome! I've seen Wicked before (in London) and it was fun to see it again, in the states. David had never seen it, but he loved it! (Yes, I converted him to the light). It was fun for me to pick out subtle differences that the Touring version of the show has to make to adapt to different stages/theatres. In London, Wicked is only shown at the Apollo Victoria and it has been there for a while and stays there. So they have more ability to do cool effects--use of Traps doors, a little more elaborate sets, etc. The differences between the two shower weren't huge, just small things I noticed. It was fun to see the creativity that the Touring group really does have to do/adapt to make the show work for every possible stage situation. Anyway, again I loved it!!! Even though we had to travel 8 hours, it was worth it. Plus it was some David and Emily only time, which is always wonderful!

Just to prove we were there:

Isn't it so much fun to go on a trip by yourselves? I loved when we went to Jackson Hole last year for our anniversary! And I can't wait until we can do it again and leave Aaron with someone (very very soon hehehe)

I heard that the show was awesome! I am glad you guys had a good time! LOVE!
